Battery deposit

Why is a battery deposit charged?

According to §10 of the Battery Act, anyone who puts starter batteries into circulation is obliged to set up a collection system for used batteries. Deposit of €7.50 including sales tax if an old battery is not returned at the same time as purchasing a new starter battery. Please note that supply batteries, for example, are not starter batteries and are therefore exempt from the Battery Act.

How does the deposit refund work?

Disposal: Dispose of your old battery at a hardware store, auto parts dealer, recycling center, scrap yard, repair shop, or any retailer that sells starter batteries. Have the disposal of the old battery confirmed with written proof that includes a stamp, date, and signature. You are also welcome to have this confirmed on our invoice. Please be sure to send us this confirmation by email within 14 days of the disposal receipt being issued. Unfortunately, we cannot refund the deposit after this period has expired.

When will the repayment be made?

The battery deposit is usually refunded within 14 business days of receipt of the disposal certificate. Please note that the refund will always be made using the payment method selected when placing the order.
